MOSCOW, 24 July – Moscow “Dynamo” considers the actions of the Uruguayan defender Guillermo Varela as a violation of contractual obligations, the press service of the football club said in a statement.
Earlier, the media reported that the player left the location of the club before the match of the second round of the championship of Russia against the capital’s “Torpedo”.
“Uruguayan defender Guillermo Varela will not take part in today’s match of the Russian championship against Torpedo. Our club considers the player’s actions as a violation of contractual obligations. Dynamo has repeatedly expressed its attitude towards the FIFA decision of 21.06. until June 30, 2023. This decision is clearly provocative and discriminatory in relation to all Russian football,” the statement said.
Varela is 29 years old. He moved to Dynamo from Copenhagen in 2021. As part of the Moscow club, he took part in 48 matches, in which he gave three assists.
