Four-time world champion in cross-country skiing, Norwegian skier Emil Iversen refused to comment on media criticism from the Russian Olympic relay champion Veronika Stepanova, TV2 reports.
Earlier, Iversen spoke about the removal of Russians from international competitions. “All my thoughts are that everyone should do their part to make it harder to govern Russia or be a part of it. Sport is a small part, but an important one,” said Emil.
“That won’t happen, Emil. Only we Russians will decide how we should live and who will be our leader. The last thing we care about is someone else’s opinion on this issue, including yours,” Stepanova answered the Norwegian, adding: “Your sports career has passed its zenith, Emil. You’ll probably be done performing soon.”
