MOSCOW, September 16 – Figure skaters Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 European Championships in Kaunas, said the head of the Lithuanian Skating Federation Vytautas Jasutis.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda signed a decree depriving Drobiazko of Lithuanian citizenship, which she received as an exception in 1993. She and Vanagas were also excluded from the list of holders of the Order of Gediminas, V degree, for participating in Tatiana Navka’s show “Swan Lake” in Sochi.
Drobiazko and Vanagas represented Lithuania at the Olympic Games and World Championships, where they managed to win one bronze medal. The couple are multiple national champions. Drobyazko is a native of Moscow. She received Lithuanian citizenship in 1993.
