MOSCOW, July 24 – Former Anji footballer Makhach Gadzhiev was placed under house arrest in a fraud case. The relevant information is published on the website of the Soviet District Court of the city of Makhachkala.
Earlier, the athlete was detained in Moscow. Hajiyev has been wanted for fraud since December last year. He is charged with Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale).
“The court chose the defendant a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for a period of 1 month, i.e. until August 21, 2022, with the imposition of appropriate restrictions,” the court’s website said in a statement.
Gadzhiev is best known for his performances for the Makhachkala “Anji”, he also defended the colors of the Samara “Wings of the Soviets” and the Perm “Amkar”.
In 2017, a court in Kizilyurt sentenced Gadzhiev to two years probation for fraud (part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to information on the website of the court, in 2010, hiding his employment contract with Anji, the footballer got a job in a separate battalion of teaching staff, received 54,308 rubles as a salary for eight months, but did not go to work. The football player pleaded guilty, he was tried in a special order.
Moreover, as follows from the text of the verdict, in December 2016, Gadzhiev was already convicted of fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), receiving 4 years probation. That case also concerned fictitious employment in the bodies of the Dagestan Ministry of Internal Affairs, the amount of the stolen money exceeded 1.2 million rubles.
