Former boxing champion Pacquiao loses Philippine presidential election

MOSCOW, May 10 – Former world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has said he will continue to help the people of the Philippines after losing the presidential election.
Elections in the Philippines are drawing to a close, with Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the lead at the moment. Pacquiao was nominated for the presidency in September 2021.
“People have cast their vote. This election is over for me. My running for president was driven by a desire to serve my country. Influence the lives of poor Filipinos. For now, I would like to take a break and spend more time with my family. I will continue to help our people through his foundation,” Pacquiao tweeted.
Pacquiao, 43, is the only boxer to date to win eight weight divisions. During his career, he won 62 victories (39 by knockout), suffered 8 defeats, and the Filipino ended two more fights in a draw.
