Gretzky voted for Ovechkin in the choice of the symbolic team of the season in the NHL

MOSCOW, June 25 – The leading scorer and sniper in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL), Canadian Wayne Gretzky voted for the captain of the Washington Capitals, Russian Alexander Ovechkin, when choosing the symbolic team of the season, according to the website of the Professional Hockey Journalists Association (PHWA).
Gretzky, who served as an analyst for TNT, scored three points for Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau, two for Calgary’s Johnny Gaudreau and one for Ovechkin in the season’s MVP of the season.
Ovechkin scored 90 points (50 goals + 40 assists) in 77 games in the 2021/22 NHL regular season. In six playoff meetings, he scored 6 points (1 + 5). The 36-year-old Russian, with 780 goals, is the third-best scorer in league history behind Gordie Howe (801) and Gretzky (894).
