In recent years, Brazilians have the largest foreign representation in the RPL. For example, in this draw of the Russian championship, 11 players are declared, seven of which are from Zenit. In total, more than 186 Brazilians have played in the elite of Russian football in the 21st century. “Championship” remembered everyone and spoke about the most important stars of the clubs.

We did not take into account naturalized football players.

“Spartacus”

Spartak had the largest number of Brazilians in the squad. Robson, Mozart, Welliton, Rafael Carioca and Lucas Ayrton played more than 100 matches for the red-and-whites. And Welliton was the most successful of all – with Spartak he won the silver medals of the Russian championship three times and was the RPL top scorer twice. Now the striker plays in Brazil for Novorizontino.

“Akhmat”

Mauricio is the record holder of the Russian Championship in terms of matches played among all Brazilians. But all his awards – the Russian Cup, the Russian Super Cup and the RPL bronze – he won in a year and a half with Zenit (2016-2017). Now the midfielder is without a club: in the summer he left Panathinaikos.

“Locomotive”

In seven years at Lokomotiv, Maicon won the Russian Cup twice and became the bronze medalist of the 2013/2014 season championship. The forward could add a championship to the awards if he left the railroad a year later. After Lokomotiv, Maicon played for Atlético Mineiro and Buriram United, and is now a free agent.

“Wings of Soviets”

Leilton played in Russia for Wings of the Soviets, Shinnik and Volga, but he became a legend in Samara. Together with the “Wings” the Brazilian took the bronze medals of the championship of Russia.

“Zenith”

Hulk has won all three trophies in Russia. Under him, Zenit showed an excellent performance in European competition: they won five out of six matches in the Champions League group, reached the 1/8 finals of the Champions League and the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Hulk now plays for Atlético Mineiro, with whom he won four trophies in two years.

“Ruby”

For five seasons at Rubin, Kalisto not only played more than 100 matches, scored 10 goals and made 14 assists, but also became the bronze medalist of the 2003 Russian Championship.

CSKA

The most successful Brazilian in Russia may have recently returned to CSKA, but after leaving Midtjylland, he does not have a club. Wagner is 38, so it’s hardly worth waiting for his return to the RPL.

“Anji”

Jusiley is the record holder among Brazilians in terms of the number of matches for Anji. He played 100 matches. But the main star of Anji was Roberto Carlos. The arrival of the world champion in Russia is a historic achievement for the club and the city, even though the defender did not win anything with the team.

“Alania”

Only Paulo Emiliu played more than 100 matches for Alania among the Brazilians, but it is impossible not to mention Danilo Neko. Together with the striker, the Vladikavkaz club reached the final of the Russian Cup in the 2010/2011 season.

“Kuban”

Shandau spent three great years in Kuban. In the 2014/2015 season, the Krasnodar club became the finalist of the Russian Cup, but lost to Lokomotiv in the final. It is noteworthy that in three games of the Cup of the country, Kuban, together with Shandau, did not miss a single goal at the start, and in the decisive match without him, they got three at once.

“Saturn”

In Russia, Zheder played not only for Saturn, but also for Spartak. Together with the red-and-whites, the defender won RPL medals – two silver medals in 2006 and 2007. With Saturn, Zheder was left without awards, but he twice made the list of 33 best players in the Russian championship.

“Dynamo”

Derley immediately became the leader of Dynamo in the 2005 season. He scored 13 goals in 23 matches, but in two years he did not win anything with the blue and white. But he was remembered for the fact that once during a match he threw a bottle of water at the head of head coach Yuri Semin after he was replaced.

“Krasnodar”

Wanderson suspended the contract with Krasnodar and went on loan to Internacional. But he can still be considered the most successful Brazilian in the history of the club. Together with him, Krasnodar twice became the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship.

“Chernomorets”

Most of the matches of the five Brazilians had Flavio. Together with other compatriots, he reached the final of the Russian Cup with Chernomorets.

“Spartak-Nalchik”

Leandro played in Russia for Luch-Energy, Spartak-Nalchik, Kuban and Volga. Together with a team from Nalchik, the Brazilian took sixth place in the 2006 season. This is the best result in the history of the club.
