There are several rules that will help to achieve the best possible result.

What is the best time to sunbathe

Sunbathing is best before 12:00 and after 17:00 – this is the most favorable time to get a beautiful even tan without harm to health. In the middle of the day, the sun is very active, and ultraviolet rays adversely affect the skin, causing photoaging, hyperpigmentation and the appearance of spider veins.

It also increases the risk of melanoma, a dangerous cancer. Therefore, children under three years of age should absolutely not stay in the sun without protective equipment, as this significantly increases the risk of a malignant tumor.

How long can you stay under the sun

You can not immediately stay in the sun for a long time – the skin must be prepared for sunbathing. The first time to sunbathe is no more than 15 minutes, every day increasing the time spent in the sun. We are talking only about those hours that we indicated earlier – before noon and after five in the evening.

If, for some reason, you are under the open sun during a period of time not recommended for tanning, you must use sunscreens with a high SPF factor of 50+. It is important to renew the cream every two hours because its properties decrease over time and do not provide proper protection, even if you feel it.

How to prepare your skin for tanning

Before going out in the sun, the skin must be prepared for tanning. There are several rules that will help to achieve the best possible result.

Timely depilation. Not the day before tanning, but at least a few days before. Because any such procedure violates the integumentary barrier of the skin. Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the skin is protected from burns by the production of melanin. This is a pigment that is deposited unevenly and can lead to age spots.

Scrubbing. It is better to make it a day or two before the intended tan. So you cleanse the skin of keratinized scales, allowing the tan to lie evenly and stay on the skin longer.

We share three homemade scrub recipes in the article.

Moisturizing the skin. It is necessary to sunbathe with the application of moisturizers. Ideally, do this in advance, just before tanning, because ultraviolet rays aggressively act on the skin and dry it out.

What are the best tools to use

Means can be very different – both for tanning and for tanning. If you have the first skin phototype – you immediately blush, and do not tan – it is best to use products with at least SPF 15-30 protection. Even in this case, you will get a beautiful shade.

Many mistakenly believe that with sunscreen you will not get a tan, but this is not the case. On the contrary, the color will lie evenly and without harm to health.

After sunburn, you also need to use moisturizers – both in the case of the appearance of a golden hue, and in case of a burn. In the first option, this is necessary to consolidate the result, because ultraviolet dries the skin, and with keratinized scales, it will peel off faster, depriving you of the acquired beautiful tan.

If you get a burn (the skin turns red, you feel tingling, itching, blisters appear), special remedies will help alleviate the discomfort. Be sure to take them with you on vacation if you want to sunbathe without harm to health.
