41-year-old Ibrahimovic intends to compete at the European Championships in 2024
MOSCOW, 21 Mar – Milan’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said he intends to take part in the 2024 European Football Championship if Sweden qualifies for the tournament.
Earlier, 41-year-old Ibrahimovic was called up to the Swedish national team for the opening qualifying matches of the European Championship – 2024.
“I’m not in the national team to serve out a number. I’m here to show my game and achieve results through my performances. So I hope I can continue to do this,” Le Parisien quoted Ibrahimovic.
The last time Ibrahimovic played for the national team in March last year in the play-off match for the World Cup in Qatar, then the Swedes lost to Poland (0:2) and did not make it to the tournament. Ibrahimovic (62 goals, 121 appearances) is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Swedish national team. If the Swedish team reaches the final tournament of the European Championship, then Ibrahimovic can break the record of the Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly – the oldest player who took part in the tournament (40 years, 86 days).
