The 3rd ODI between India and New Zealand was played at the Bay Oval ground in Mount Maunganui. India lost 5 wickets in this ODI match. New Zealand won the ODI series 3–0.

The New Zealand team captain Ken Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl. Team India’s start was not good, India scored 296 for 7 wickets in 50 overs with the help of KL Rahul’s century (112) and a half-century from Shreyas Iyer (62). Prithvi Shaw scored 40 runs and Manish Pandey scored 42 runs.

In response, the New Zealand team landed, Nickels and Guptill started well. Guptill Atishi looked in rhythm and both the openers scored half-centuries. After this, Grandmom scored the half-century. Due to this, the New Zealand team won the mache by 5 wickets.

New Zealand made a clean sweep to India after 32 years in ODI (Internationals). Earlier in March 1989, West Indies made a clean sweep in the ODI series against India 5–0.
