IPL 2020 Start Date Update Schedule: This year i.e. the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will start from 19 September, while the final will be played on 8 November.
This means this time it will run for 51 days compared to IPL. If it had started from its fixed schedule i.e. March 29, then this time it was to run for 57 days.
Due to Coronavirus’s havoc, this year’s most expensive domestic cricket T20 will be played in the UAE instead of India. The news agency ANI has given this information from the sources of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Let us know that it can be approved in the IPL Governing Council meeting next week. The BCCI has informed the franchisees about this plan.
BADCI’s Padadhakiri told the news agency that this time the league will run for 51 days. This will benefit franchisees, broadcasters and other stakeholders. There were speculations that this time the IPL will start from 26 September. In fact, the BCCI has decided to start the IPL a week in advance, keeping in mind the Australia tour to be held later this year.
It is being told that this season the tournament will be played in Double Round-robin and Knockout formats. However, it will be approved only after the release of the full schedule. A BCCI source told ANI, ‘So we discussed this date (19 September to 8 November).
We just had an informal discussion on the dates, but the final decision will be taken at the Governing Council meeting. We have to discuss other things including training camp, SOP etc. Everything will be clear only after the meeting. ‘
Before that, the President of IPL Governing Council Brijesh Patel confirmed that the 13th season of the league i.e. IPL 2020 will be played in the UAE.
The source said, ‘The best thing is that 51 days is enough, so the number of matches will not have to be reduced. Also there will be very few double header matches. We can get at most five doubleheaders in seven weeks.”
He said, “Because the players are away from practice for a long time due to coronavirus. In such a situation, they need at least one month’s time, so every team will leave for UAE by 20 August, which will give them four weeks to prepare.”
