The suspense remains on the Indian Premier League (IPL). Recently, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that IPL can be done without the audience. On this, Treasurer Dhumal said that the option to play the tournament in the empty stadium would be the last.
Meanwhile, IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel said that the September-October window is being considered for the IPL. Although the Asia Cup is to be held in September and the T20 World Cup in October-November, it is likely to be postponed.
The BCCI has already been postponed indefinitely due to the IPL coronavirus to be held from March 29 this year. Recently, Ganguly had said that the board would suffer a loss of about Rs.4,000 crore due to the cancellation of the IPL.
“All options for the IPL are being discussed,” Dhumal told news agency Reuters. When we do not have any option, the tournament can be held without an audience. If we want Romachank IPL, then it has to be with the audience.
At this time, we are working keeping in mind the circumstances. But before doing anything, we should also have a blank window and government guidelines.
Brijesh told an English website, “Yes, we are all considering this (September-October window). But it will depend on the future of all T20 World Cups and Asia Cup. Right now we are discussing all the options (windows). Also, what will be the conditions in September-October, whether or not the tournament will depend on it. For this, we are also waiting for government guidelines for the first time. ”
The IPL chairman said, “You can’t play the T20 World Cup in an empty stadium, but the IPL is a league, so it can be done without an audience.” The players are ready to play in this way, hence the broadcasters are also ready. ”
The Asia Cup is to be held in Dubai to be hosted by Pakistan in September. Previously the tournament was to be held in Pakistan, but India refused to play in the tournament.
The Asia Cup was shifted due to this. Pakistan Cricket Board has said many times that it will not post the Asia Cup for the IPL. At the same time, T20 World Cup is to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November this year.
