Heavy rain halted the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 5, 2025, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, with DC at 133/7 in 20 overs.

The downpour which began during the innings break, left little chance of resuming play, significantly affecting the playoff race.

If the match abandoned both teams would earn one point resulting in DC having 13 points from 11 matches and SRH 7 points from 11 matches. SRH, currently ninth with 6 points from 10 matches, faces near-certain elimination from the playoff race.
Even winning all three remaining matches, SRH could only reach 13 points, insufficient as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (16 points), Punjab Kings (15 points), Mumbai Indians (14 points), and Gujarat Titans (14 points) have already surpassed or matched that threshold.
For DC, fifth with 12 points before the match, the additional point offers a lifeline. With 13 points, DC remains in playoff contention, needing one or two wins from their final three matches to secure a top-four spot, bolstered by their +0.362 net run rate (NRR).
