In a letter to the Chief Executive of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), American Track and Field (USATF) chief executive Max Siegel called for the postponement of the Olympic Games beginning July 24.

Prior to USATF, the US swimming body also wrote a similar letter to the USOPC. The USOPC, however, agrees with the IOC that it is too early to decide on the postponement of the Games.

The Olympic Committee of Brazil also spoke of postponing the Olympics until 2021. In a statement released on Saturday, he said that given the severity of the epidemic and the difficulty for players to maintain competitive levels, it is necessary to make a decision.

Swimming federations of the US and France have also requested to support the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic.

In a letter to Sarah Hirschland, chief executive of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, US Swimming Federation chief executive Tim Hinche said that the Tokyo Olympics should be advocated for a year to be suspended due to coronavirus infection.

The Federation of France said after the video conference with its executive committee, ‘The current situation is not conducive for the Olympic 2020 event. The possibility of postponing it should be considered. The Norwegian Olympic Committee (NIF) also wants the Tokyo Olympic Games to be held only when the coronavirus is controlled throughout the world.’
