MOSCOW, 26 Jul – The Executive Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) did not allow Russian and Belarusian players to participate in the World Team Championship in China because of the situation in Ukraine, according to the organization’s website.
The decision was made in accordance with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The World Team Championship will be held from September 30 to October 9 in Chengdu, China.
Earlier, the Executive Board of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) decided not to allow Russian and Belarusian clubs to participate in European club competitions in the 2022/23 season.
In October 2021, the Russian men’s team won silver medals at the European Team Championship for the first time in history.
