World No. 2 Jabeur advances to Wimbledon second round

MOSCOW, June 27 – Tunisian tennis player Ons Jaber defeated Sweden’s Mirjam Bjorklund in the first round match of the third Grand Slam of the season – Wimbledon.
The meeting ended with a score of 6:1, 6:3 in favor of Zhaber (2nd racket of the world, 3rd seed). Bjorklund got into the main draw through qualification. Tennis players spent 54 minutes on the court.
In the second round Jaber will play against the winner of the match Rebecca Marino (Canada) – Katarzyna Kawa (Poland).
The Wimbledon tournament, held on grass courts, will be held from June 27 to July 10. In April, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, due to the situation in Ukraine, refused to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to the tournament. In May, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) decided not to award rating points to the participants of the Wimbledon tournament due to the organizers’ refusal to allow Russian and Belarusian players.
