Joaquin says he’ll stay at Betis for one more season
MOSCOW, 25 April – The captain of the Spanish football club “Betis” Joaquin Sanchez has announced that he will remain in the team for another season.
Betis beat Valencia 1-1, 5-4 on penalties on Saturday to win the Copa del Rey.
“I don’t know if I will break any plans, but I will play for Betis for one more year,” the 40-year-old midfielder Marca was quoted as saying.
Joaquin is a graduate of the club, he began his professional career in 1999. In addition to Betis, he also represented the Spanish “Valencia”, “Malaga” and the Italian “Fiorentina”. This Spanish Cup was his third in his career – he previously won the trophy in the “Betis” (2005) and “Valencia” (2008).
Joaquín made 52 appearances for Spain, scoring four goals. He represented the national team at the 2002 and 2006 World Championships and the 2004 European Championship.
