MOSCOW, 19 Jul – Russian Aslan Karatsev defeated Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in the first round match at the tennis tournament in Hamburg, Germany, the prize fund of which is 1.7 million euros.
The meeting ended with the score 6:4, 6:0 in favor of Karatsev. Basilashvili was seeded at the tournament under the sixth number. Tennis players spent 1 hour and 1 minute on the court.

In the second round, Karatsev will play with the winner of the match between Argentinean Federico Coria and Colombian Daniel-Elai Galan, who made it to the main draw of the tournament through qualification.
Earlier, the German TV channel ZDF, citing documents from the International Tennis Federation (ITF), reported that there were suspicions against Karatsev and Basilashvili. One of the coaches from Eastern Europe, who became the source of the ZDF, said that tennis players were offered money for surrendering matches by their coach Yegor Yatsyk. The Belarusian specialist, according to a ZDF source, was looking for young tennis players and provided them with financial assistance by participating in contractual meetings.
