MOSCOW, 11 Sep – Swedish MMA fighter Khamzat Chimaev defeated American Kevin Holland at the 279th numbered tournament of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The fight took place in Las Vegas (USA) and ended in the first round after a choke in the performance of the favorite.
Initially, Chimaev’s opponent was supposed to be American Nate Diaz. However, the Swede of Chechen origin did not meet the welterweight division limit, after which UFC head Dana White announced that Diaz would meet compatriot Tony Ferguson in the main event of the evening, and Chimaev would face Holland in the second most important fight of the tournament.
Khamzat Chimaev remains undefeated (12 wins in 12 fights). Holland’s record is 23 wins and eight losses, one more fight was declared invalid.
