MOSCOW, 19 Aug – Russian tennis player Veronika Kudermetova failed to reach the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, the prize fund of which exceeds $2.5 million.
Kudermetova in the third round of the competition in singles lost to Australian Ayla Tomlyanovich with a score of 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 3:6. Tennis players spent almost three hours on the court. For reaching the semi-finals, the Australian will compete with the Czech Petra Kvitova.

Later on Thursday, Kudermetova, along with Belgium’s Elise Mertens (top seed), defeated Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Mexican Juliana Olmos (#5 seed) 6-2, 1-6, 10-3 in the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament in Cincinnati. Rivals Kudermetova and Mertens in the semi-finals will be announced later.
