Kvaratskhelia’s goal helped the Georgian national football team defeat the Gibraltar team in the League of Nations
MOSCOW, June 2 – The Georgian national football team defeated the team of Gibraltar in the first round of the League of Nations.
The meeting of group 4 of league C, which was held in Tbilisi, ended with the victory of the hosts with a score of 4:0. The goals were scored by the former player of Rubin Kazan and Lokomotiv Moscow Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (12th minute), Guram Kashiya (33), Georges Mikautadze (87) and Valery Kazaishvili (88). Kvaratskhelia also made an assist in the episode with Kashiya’s goal.
In another match of the quartet, the Bulgarians played at home with the national team of North Macedonia – 1:1. In group 2 of league C, the Kosovo team beat the Cypriots with a score of 2:0. In Group 2 of League D, the Estonians defeated the San Marino team – 2:0.
The Russian national team was excluded from the list of participants in the League of Nations after the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee, which in May suspended all Russian national and club teams from competitions under its auspices until the end of the 2022/23 season. In connection with this decision, the Russian national team will leave Division B of the League of Nations and drop down to League C.
