Russian Kvyat became the third in the LMP2 class in the endurance race “1000 miles of Sebring”
MOSCOW, 18 Mar – Former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat of Russia made his Prema Racing debut at the World Endurance Championship (WEC), finishing third in the LMP2 class at the first round of the season, the 1000 Mile Sebring race (USA).
In the overall standings, regardless of the category, Kvyat’s crew, which also includes Italian Mirko Bortolotti and Frenchwoman Dorian Pin, took ninth place with a total time of 8 hours 1 minute 3.209 seconds.
First place was taken by representatives of Toyota Gazoo, which was represented by former Formula 1 racer Kamui Kobayashi of Japan, Argentine Jose Maria Lopez and Briton Mike Conway (8:00.19.877). Sebastian Buemi of Switzerland, Brandon Hartley of New Zealand and Rio Hirakawa of Japan (Toyota Gazoo; 2.168 seconds back) were second, followed by Italian Antonio Fuoco, Spaniard Miguel Molina and Dane Niklas Nielsen (Ferrari AF Corse; 2 laps) . Kvyat’s crew was nine laps behind the winners.
The next stage of the championship will be a six-hour race in Portimão, Portugal, which will be held on 16 April.
