MOSCOW, 22 Jul – Spain’s La Liga has filed a lawsuit in a Paris administrative court demanding that footballer Kylian Mbappe’s contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain be annulled, AFP reported.
Also, the Spanish organization requested to cancel the decision of the National Department for Management Control (DNCG) on the absence of financial claims against PSG. Both applications were rejected for lack of urgency. They will be considered on the merits over a longer period.
“We expected this. It was a technical appeal, an important decision on the merits, which may not come into force until the end of the 2022/23 season. Our steps at the French level are met with strong resistance, but this is only the first step before going to the European courts in a few months,” La Liga lawyer Juan Branco said.
According to the lawyer, PSG did not comply with the criteria and indicators provided for by the rules of the Professional Football League of France (LFP) and DNCG, and also violated the financial fair play rules of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). In La Liga, they are sure that the French champion presented falsified financial reports.
In May, PSG signed a new contract with Mbappé until 2025. Previously, the Spanish media reported on the proximity of the Frenchman to move to Real Madrid. It was noted that PSG, who wanted to keep the player, offered him a signing bonus of 300 million euros and a salary of 100 million euros per year.
