MOSCOW, 23 Jul – Olympic champion, three-time world champion in high jump Maria Lasitskene won the All-Russian athletics competition “The Way to Olympus” in Moscow.
Lasickienė showed a result of 1.91 meters and already in the rank of winner she unsuccessfully tried to take the height of 1.96 m three times. The athlete burst into tears before the final, third attempt at this height.
The second place was taken by Alexandra Yaryshkina (1.89 meters), Tatyana Ermachenkova (1.86) closed the top three.
Olympic silver medalist, world champion Anzhelika Sidorova won the pole vault with a score of 4.80 meters. The second place went to Polina Knoroz (4.60), the third was Elizaveta Bondarenko (4.50).
Silver medalist of the 2018 European Championship Timur Morgunov won gold in the pole vault with a score of 5.65 meters. The second place was taken by Victor Pintusov (5.40), the third – Dmitry Kachanov (5.30).
These days the USA is hosting the World Championships in Athletics. The Council of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) on March 1, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international tournaments. Prior to that, due to a doping scandal, since 2015, the Russians had the right to play in a neutral status.
