Rastorguev was stripped of silver at the World Championships in summer biathlon for non-compliance with safety
MOSCOW, 26 Aug – The representative of Latvia, Andrey Rastorguev, was disqualified following the results of the sprint race at the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Brezno-Osrblie (Slovakia), according to the website of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
Rastorguev, who finished second in the sprint on Saturday, was disqualified for a safety violation. After the shooting, he drove onto the track with an incorrectly fixed rifle.
Due to the disqualification of Rastorguev, the Lithuanian Vytautas Strol got the silver, the Swede Jesper Nelin became the bronze medalist. The race was won by the Belgian Florent Claude.
