Ferrari driver Leclerc: I see myself as a Formula 1 champion at the end of the season, period
MOSCOW, June 16 – The pilot of the Ferrari team Charles Leclerc said that he could become the champion of Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season.
After eight races, the Monegasque is third in the overall Formula 1 standings. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen of the Netherlands is in the lead, the 24-year-old Monegasque is 34 points behind him.
“At the end of the season, I see myself as world champion, period. I will never give up, that’s not my mentality. I still believe in my team and I want to win. Maybe I’m crazy, but I believed in winning for the last two seasons when I could have become tenth at the most. Now we are fighting for the title. We have the opportunity to succeed in this,” Lexer was quoted by French Eurosport with reference to La Repubblica.
This season, Leclerc won the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Australian Grand Prix. The ninth round of the Formula 1 championship of the 2022 season – the Canadian Grand Prix will be held from 17 to 19 June in Montreal.
