MOSCOW, 25 Jul – The National Olympic and Sports Committee of France (CNOSF) has granted the appeal of the six-time French champion club Bordeaux, according to the French newspaper L’Equipe.
Earlier, the appeal commission of the French Football Federation confirmed the decision to transfer the club to the National Championship 1. These sanctions were imposed on Bordeaux due to a number of financial violations committed by the team’s management. The club is on the verge of bankruptcy and has been transferred to an external administration.
CNOSF has recommended that the French Football Federation reconsider the decision to move Bordeaux to the third division and allow the club to play in the second division of French football, Ligue 2, next season.
At the end of the season, Bordeaux lost its place in the French Ligue 1 on a sporting basis. In the new season, the team was supposed to play in Ligue 2.
