MOSCOW, 27 Jul – Football player Luis Suarez spoke with a thank you note to the fans who urged him to return to the Uruguayan club Nacional.
Previously, the club’s fans launched a social media campaign to convince Suarez to return to Nacional, where he started his career.
“I want to thank you for all the love that my family and I have received over the past few days. It has been impressive and emotional. And made my return to Nacional inevitable. We have a preliminary agreement with the club, in the next few hours I I hope to clarify all the details,” Suarez, 35, said in a video posted to Twitter.
The striker’s last club was Atlético Madrid, for which he made 45 appearances last season and scored 13 goals. The Uruguayan left the team at the end of his contract.
Suarez played for Nacional from 2005 to 2006, and later represented the Dutch Groningen and Ajax, the English Liverpool and the Spanish Barcelona, with whom he won the Champions League. With 68 goals, he is the top scorer in the history of the Uruguayan national team, having won the America’s Cup in 2011 as part of the national team.
