Manchester City and Arsenal faced off in a thrilling Premier League match on Sunday, September 22, at Etihad Stadium. The match ended in a 2-2 draw with both teams battling until the final moments.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring early for City, scoring a goal in the 9th minute from a pass by Savio. With this goal, Haaland equaled a record set by Cristiano Ronaldo.
By scoring his 100th goal in just 105 matches, Haaland matched Ronaldo’s achievement of reaching 100 goals in the same number of games, a record Ronaldo set while playing for Real Madrid after leaving Manchester United in 2011.
Despite Haaland’s early strike, Arsenal fought back. In the 22nd minute, Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, who recently joined Arsenal from Bologna, scored his first goal for the club with a stunning shot from outside the box. Just before halftime, Brazilian defender Gabriel added a second goal for Arsenal, heading in from a corner to give them a 2-1 lead.
Arsenal had to defend with only 10 men for the entire second half. City dominated possession and pressed hard for an equalizer. Their persistence paid off in the 98th minute when John Stones scored to secure a last-gasp 2-2 draw.
