MOSCOW, 7 Aug – Manchester United head coach Eric ten Hag has said his team should learn a lesson after losing to Brighton in the first round of the Premier League.
On Sunday, the Mancunians lost in a home match with a score of 1:2. The meeting with Brighton was the first official game for ten Hag at the head of the Red Devils.
“First of all, I’m disappointed. We have to learn a lesson. Manchester United could have had better possession, we made too many simple mistakes. They scored goals that they shouldn’t have scored. Brighton are a good team, but I look at and I understand that we should have done better. I think we should not have given two such easy balls. If we had better possession of the ball and made the right decisions, we could have dominated,” ten Hag said.
The 52-year-old Dutch specialist also spoke about the form of striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
“This game will help Ronaldo improve his fitness. Not only he, but the whole team must work. The team needs to learn to play according to the plan,” the coach said.
