Gerardo Martino resigns as head coach of Mexico national football team after World Cup elimination
MOSCOW, 1 Dec – Mexico head coach Gerardo Martino stepped down after the team’s relegation from the World Cup in Qatar.
On Wednesday, the Mexicans beat the national team of Saudi Arabia (2:1), but this was not enough to reach the playoffs. The Mexican national team finished third in the Group C table and did not leave the group at the world championship for the first time since 1978. The Mexicans have made the playoffs in their last eight World Cups.
