ESPN: New Orleans to sign Williamson to maximum contract
MOSCOW, 3 July – The New Orleans Pelicans have reached an agreement with basketball player Zion Williamson to sign a maximum contract, according to ESPN, citing agent Austin Brown.
The new agreement with the 21-year-old striker will be for five years. Under the contract, Williamson will earn $ 193 million, but the amount could reach $ 231 million if the striker gets into one of the symbolic fives at the end of next season.
Williamson was selected first overall by the New Orleans in the 2019 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft. The basketball player completely missed the 2021/22 season due to an injury. He played in just 85 games in his first three NBA seasons, averaging 25.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
