Games “Children of Asia” are held in Primorye from July 27 to August 8.
“As before, we are aware of the importance of a direct and open dialogue between countries, peoples, athletes and coaches, we are committed to principles. Our country hospitably opens its doors and offers to take part in competitions that have already proven themselves, as well as in new formats of open sports events Such a representative participation of sports delegations in the “Children of Asia” gives confidence that we are on the right track and educate a new generation through the true values ​​of sports,” Matytsin said.
“It is no coincidence that the honorary right to host the Games was granted to the capital of the Far East, the region is strategic for the development of sports in Russia. It has accumulated rich experience in holding large-scale forums, sports competitions, training events. Here the Russian national team conducted the final stage of preparation before the Olympic Games in Tokyo and other international competitions, all the camps were successful thanks to the excellent infrastructure and the support of the government of Primorsky Krai,” the minister noted.
The total number of participants in the Games will exceed three thousand people – these are young athletes aged 13-16 from 12 countries and eight regions of Russia. Athletes will compete for 273 sets of medals in 19 sports.
Games are held every four years. They were first organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic Movement in 1996 on the initiative of the first President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mikhail Nikolaev. Over the past 25 years, thousands of young athletes from more than 30 Asian countries have become participants in the Games, subsequently they became winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, championships, world and continental championships.
