The team selector informed Maxwell of the injury and said ‘that he will have to undergo surgery due to which he will not be able to play in this series’. Maxwell said ‘that I did not feel that I would be able to play international cricket right now because of this injury. This is the reason why I decided to get the operation done.’
The series is scheduled to begin with South Africa from 21 February. Now he has been replaced by Darcy Short. According to the news, Maxwell will take six to eight weeks to fully recover, that’s why Maxwell will not be able to play the first few matches of the IPL 2020.
