MOSCOW, 23 Jul – London Mayor Sadiq Khan said his administration is working on a bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics in London.
The mayor noted that the Olympics should become the most environmentally friendly in history.
“We are working on a plan to bring the Olympics back to London. Over the past few days we have seen the effects of climate change with heat and fires. What we need is to make sure that future Games are green. We are now working on a plan to host the greenest Games,” Khan was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“The great thing about London is that you don’t spend carbon building new stadiums, new places to bike, new places to swim, because we have everything we need. So keep an eye on this space,” he added.
London last hosted the Olympics in 2012. If approved, the city will host the Summer Olympics for the fourth time.
