Former UFC champion McGregor recalled how Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov called him a magician
MOSCOW, 16 Nov – Former UFC champion in two weight categories, Irishman Conor McGregor said that the late Russian coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov praised him for defeating Donald Cerrone from the United States.
The fight between McGregor and Cerrone became the main event of UFC 246 in January 2020. The welterweight fight ended in the first minute of the starting round, when the Irishman knocked out his opponent. That win was McGregor’s first since losing to Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father and coach, passed away in July 2020.
McGregor is 34 years old. In July 2021, he suffered a broken leg in his third fight against American Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and has not fought a single fight since. He has 22 wins and six losses to his credit, and previously held UFC championship belts in the lightweight and featherweight divisions.
