L’Equipe: Marseille head coach Marcelino announced his players are leaving the club
MOSCOW, September 19 – Spanish specialist Marcelino decided to leave the post of head coach of the French football club Marseille a few months after his appointment, reports L’Equipe.
Marcelino, who took charge of Marseille in June, announced his resignation to the players before training on Tuesday. However, the club management has not yet approved it.
On Monday, September 18, the club’s management and Marcelino held a meeting with representatives of organized fan groups, where the bosses and coach of Marseille were harshly criticized due to the team’s unsuccessful performance in the Champions League qualification, where the French lost to the Greek Panathinaikos. After this meeting, Marcelino decided to leave his post.
