MOSCOW, 21 July – The total cost of the reconstruction of the home stadium of the Real Madrid football club could reach 1 billion euros, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is in the final phase of a renovation that began in 2019. The club hopes that the work will be completed next year.
According to the publication, the management of Real Madrid intends to take a new loan for reconstruction in the amount of 150 to 200 million euros. In 2019, Madrid already took out a loan of 575 million, and in 2021 they asked the bank for another 225 million to finance work not originally included in the reconstruction plan.
It is reported that another increase in the cost of the project was due to higher prices for raw materials and increased inflation caused by events in Ukraine.
