Medvedev on a possible rematch with Djokovic at the Australian Open: I’ll see you only in the final

MOSCOW, 15 Jan – Russian Daniil Medvedev spoke about a possible confrontation with Serb Novak Djokovic on the eve of the Australian Open starting on January 17.
“Even if Novak remains in the Australian Open tournament bracket, I will only be able to see him in the final. I will need to win six matches before that. This will not greatly change my preparation for the tournament itself or for any match,” Reuters quotes Medvedev.
Medvedev, who lost to Djokovic in the Australian Open final a year ago, will face Henry Laaksonen of Switzerland in the first round of the 2022 Australian Open. Participation in the competition of the first racket of the world Djokovic is still in question due to the re-annulment of his visa by the Australian authorities.
The Russian also spoke about the current level of the “big three” of world tennis, which, in addition to Djokovic, includes Swiss Roger Federer and Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
“Of course, we all know that the big three are getting old, but they still win a lot of Grand Slam tournaments. In every tournament they participate in, they are favorites,” the official website of the Australian Open quoted the Russian as saying.
