Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi named Saudi Tourism Ambassador
MOSCOW, May 10 – Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has become the official tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia, Arab News reports.
Messi in a new status on Monday arrived in Jeddah.
“I am delighted to welcome Lionel Messi to Saudi Arabia. We are pleased that you will get to know the treasures of the Red Sea and our ancient history,” Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khatib wrote on his Twitter.
In January 2021, the Telegraph reported that Cristiano Ronaldo, five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, was resigned from the post of Saudi Arabia Tourism Ambassador, who was offered about 6 million euros a year by the country’s authorities for this status.
