MOSCOW, 24 July – English football club Manchester United are ready to release Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo on loan, according to the Mirror.
In exchange, the club is demanding that the 37-year-old Portuguese activate a one-year contract extension clause so that Ronaldo can return to the English team next summer. The offer has yet to be rejected by Ronaldo and his representatives, the source said.
The Daily Mail has previously reported that Ronaldo has agreed to a move to Atlético Madrid.
Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United has become uncertain after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League at the end of last season. In early July, it became known that the striker asked the club’s management for permission to leave it if there was a satisfactory offer. Ronaldo missed the start of the Red Devils pre-season due to family reasons. Head coach Eric ten Hag said the club had no plans to sell the Portuguese.
Ronaldo returned to Manchester United from Italy’s Juventus in the summer of 2021. The player’s contract with the Mancunians runs until the summer of 2023 with the possibility of an extension for another season. Ronaldo began his professional career at Portuguese side Sporting CP before moving to United in 2003.
