MOSCOW, 25 Jul – The Russian Football Union (RFU) plans to nominate Maxim Mitrofanov for approval as the organization’s general secretary, two unrelated sources said.
Mitrofanov previously served as Deputy Secretary General – Development Director of the RFU. Previously, the secretary general of the organization was Alexander Alaev, who is now acting president of the Russian Premier League. Alaev became the only candidate for the post of head of the RPL. The elections will take place on 16 August.
“Alaev’s successor to the post of general secretary will most likely be Mitrofanov. His candidacy has been put forward for approval at the next RFU conference,” the source said.
