MOSCOW, 24 Jul – The champion belt of the American boxer Muhammad Ali, won by him in 1974, was sold at auction for 6.18 million dollars, according to France-Presse.
According to the auction house Heritage Auctions in Dallas, the owner of the club of the National Football League (NFL) “Indianapolis Colts” Jim Irsay became the winner of the auction. Other belongings of the famous boxer were also sold at the auction, including the gown in which Ali entered the “Fight of the Century” against Joe Frazier.
In 1974, Ali knocked out Foreman in the eighth round and regained the world heavyweight title.
Muhammad Ali is one of the most famous professional boxers in history, the champion of the 1960 Olympic Games, the absolute heavyweight champion of the world (1964-1966, 1974-1978), the five-time winner of the title “Boxer of the Year” and the title of “Boxer of the Decade”. During his career, the American boxer spent 61 fights, scoring 56 victories (37 of them by knockout). Muhammad Ali passed away in 2016 at the age of 74.
