Nadal lost to Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the Masters tennis tournament in Madrid

MOSCOW, May 6 – Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal failed to reach the semi-finals of the Masters tournament in Madrid, the prize fund of which exceeds 6.7 million euros.
The tournament in Madrid was the first for Nadal after a month and a half break. At the end of March, during an in-depth medical examination, a crack was found in one of his ribs.
In the 1/4 final match, the Spaniard, seeded under the third number, lost to compatriot Carlos Alcaras (7th seed) with a score of 6:2, 1:6, 3:6. The opponents spent 2 hours and 28 minutes on the court.
Alcaraz’s next opponent will be world No. 1 Serbian Novak Djokovic, who had previously beaten Pole Hubert Hurkach.
Nadal is 35 years old. He has won five Masters titles in Madrid. Alcaraz turned 19 on Thursday.
