Nadal will play in the tournament in Madrid after a month-long absence due to injury

MOSCOW, 26 April – Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal has announced that he will take part in the tournament in Madrid, which starts on May 1.
At the end of March, Nadal turned to the doctors because of breathing problems and pain experienced during the semi-final and final matches of the Masters series tournament in Indian Wells. During an in-depth medical examination, a crack was found in one of his ribs. According to media reports, the Spaniard was expected to miss four to six weeks.
“Despite the fact that I arrived right before the training and I’m having difficulties, I really want to play. I want to play at home because this opportunity does not come up very often. I will try to play my best. See you in Madrid,” Nadal wrote on Twitter.
Nadal is 35 years old. This season, he holds the all-time record for career open-court wins (954) and is the clear No. 1 in ATP history. He also scored 20 victories in a row (the Spaniard did not play another match due to the absence of an opponent) and won three titles, including the first Grand Slam tournament of the season – the Australian Open. In the final, the Spaniard defeated the Russian Daniil Medvedev.
