Newcastle buy Targett from Aston Villa for £15m
MOSCOW, June 8 – Newcastle United bought the rights to footballer Matt Targett from Aston Villa and signed a full-fledged contract with him, according to the club’s official website.
The Magpies signed a four-year agreement with the 26-year-old defender, who previously played for the team on loan. According to Aston Villa’s official Twitter, Targett’s transfer fee was £15m.
Targett, who joined Newcastle in January, made 16 appearances for the team last season, helping them escape relegation from the English Premier League to finish in 11th place.
For Aston Villa, Targett has been playing since 2019, before which he played for Southampton and London’s Fulham. In total, the defender has 142 matches in the championship of England, in which he scored three goals and gave 10 assists.
