MOSCOW, 19 Jul – French individual epee champion Romain Cannon has won the World Fencing Championship in Cairo.
In the final, the Frenchman defeated the Japanese Kazuyasu Minobe. Third place was shared by Belgian Neisser Loyola and Ukrainian Igor Reyzlin.
In the foil competition, the Frenchwoman Isaora Tibus won, who in the final was stronger than the Italian Arianna Errigo. Bronze medals were won by Romanian Maria Boldor and American Lee Kiefer.
On Wednesday, the World Championships will host team competitions for saber fencers and epee fencers, as well as finals for individual championships for saber fencers and foil fencers.
The World Championship in Cairo will end on July 23rd. In March, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) temporarily suspended Russian athletes from participating in competitions under its auspices due to the situation in Ukraine.
