Olympic champion Uguev will compete for bronze at the World Wrestling Championships in Serbia
MOSCOW, September 18 – Olympic champion Russian freestyle wrestler Zaur Uguev will take part in the fight for bronze in the up to 57 kg weight category at the World Championships, which is taking place in Belgrade.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal match, Uguev lost to Serbian Stevan Micic.
In the consolation round, Uguev defeated Uzbekistan’s Gulomjon Abdullaev. In the fight for bronze, the two-time world champion will meet with Zelimkhan Abakarov, a native of Dagestan representing Albania, the 2022 world champion.
The World Championships in Belgrade, where Olympic licenses are awarded, will end on September 24. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
