Olympic fencing champion Anvar Ibragimov dies
MOSCOW, 27 Aug – Olympic champion of the Games in Seoul Anvar Ibragimov passed away at the age of 56, according to the Telegram channel of the Russian Fencing Federation.
“We express our deep condolences to the family, friends, students and colleagues of Anvar Kamilevich. Blessed memory. Information about farewell will be published later,” the message says.
Ibragimov became the champion of the 1988 Olympics in the team foil. Also on account of his silver and bronze world championships. His son Kamil Ibragimov is a two-time world champion in team saber.
