Ovechkin to miss NHL game with Islanders due to injury
MOSCOW, 27 April – Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin will not take part in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game against the New York Islanders, according to the team’s Twitter page.
Ovechkin suffered an upper body injury in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was listed as injured as a return to the squad any day now. On Tuesday, the Russian hockey player did not participate in the team’s morning roll-out. Ovechkin’s place in the first link was taken by Connor McMichael.
The regular season match between “Washington” and “Islanders” will be held April 26 in the US capital. Start – at 2:00 Moscow time. Before the game, the Capitals will hold a ceremony honoring Ovechkin, who came out on the third line in the list of the best scorers in NHL history.
This season, the 36-year-old Russian took part in 77 matches, in which he scored 90 points (50 goals and 40 assists).
